The Dance Heritage Coalition is partnering with the National Dance Education Organization (NDEO) and the Theatre Library Association (TLA) to advance the DHC Secure Media Network, which will make significant dance materials accessible without danger of unauthorized copying or downloading. At maturity, the Dance Archive Secure Media Network will include a national catalog of important moving images held by major dance archives, one-of-a-kind dance videos from special collections and dance companies, and descriptive guides (finding aids) to special collections of dance-related materials.
The participants at the Focus Group will have a chance to view and evaluate the prototype version of the Secure Media Network, and discuss the kinds of features that would make it useful for teaching, research, and public programming.
Three focus groups of choreographers and artistic directors will be scheduled at the January Arts Presenters booking convention in New York City. Dance/NYC is the partner for the community of dance artists. For more information, read the press release.
Contact DHC’s Executive Director Libby Smigel to register your interest in participating. LSmigel@danceheritage.org or 202-223-8392. (While we hope to accommodate all conference attendees who wish to participate, limitations of space and need to demonstrate geographic diversity to the funder may necessitate turning a few away. Please register your intention to participate as soon as possible).
This Focus Group is made possible by a National Leadership Grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, a federal agency that supports initiatives of America’s libraries and museums.
