Memorial Resolution Honoring Norman Horrocks

Whereas,
The American Library Association and broader library community lost a valued member, leader, and educator on October 14, 2010, with the death of Norman Horrocks; and
Whereas,
Norman dedicated his career to ; and
Whereas,
Norman was a dedicated teacher and researcher in many aspects of librarianship, including  ; and
Whereas,
Norman served with excellence on the faculty of Dalhousie University’s School of Library and Information Science from  to ; and
Whereas,
Norman had an extensive resume of service activities, including Honoray Membership in three library associations, the American Library Association, the Candian Library Association, and the British Library Association; and
Whereas,
Norman served as  ; and
Whereas,
Norman was awarded the  ; and
Whereas,
Norman received the  Award; and
Whereas,
Norman inspired and was a valued mentor for innumerable current librarians, in particular, many leaders in the   community, now, therefore, be it
Resolved,
That the American Library Association (ALA):
  • Notes with great admiration and appreciation the contributions of Norman Horrocks over the course of his distinguished career.
  • Sends a copy of this resolution to his family members as well as to his colleagues at Dalhousie University.
