ALA has launched a new public awareness campaign “Libraries Transform” – libraries transform lives and communities and libraries are undergoing significant transformations in terms of spaces, services, collections, and programs.

As part of this campaign we want to highlight the great ways that librarians and library professionals are leading transformation. We’re doing some write-ups on change agents or change teams to promote around the campaign. Some examples of published profiles:

Would you be willing to share your story for one of our profiles? We will need a photo and your answers to the following series of questions - just 3 - 5 sentences for each question to highlight the work you’re doing as an example of how libraries transform?

    Here are the questions

    1. What big change are you implementing that is helping your library transform? Provide a specific example of a program, space, service, or product that illustrates the change you have accomplished.

    2. How has this transformation in your library helped to transform your community?

Answer at least one of the following two questions:

    1. What is one of the best strategies for achieving change in your library and how have you leveraged it?

    2. What is one of the biggest challenges for achieving change in your library and how have you learned to manage it?

Answer at least one of the following two questions:

    1. What resources (books, articles, mentors, web sites, etc.) help inspire your evolving vision of change in libraries?

    2. What experiences or outcomes resulting from your change have kept you inspired and motivated to continue your work?

If you have questions or to submit your story, please contact Miguel Figueroa at mfigueroa@ala.org. There’s no set deadline for submitting your story – it’s a rolling series of profiles that will continue throughout the year.

    Thanks for considering this opportunity!
